The Queer Madison Biennial exhibits artwork created by LGBTQ+ artists based in Dane County, WI. The second biennial will take place May 15, 2027 - June 15, 2027 at Commonwealth Gallery. Bo Owen and Kean O’Brien co-curate the exhibition through direct invitations and an open call. Submissions will be juried by the co-curators and artists Lars Shimabukuro and Adriana Barrios. The Queer Madison Biennial demonstrates the formal and conceptual expansiveness of artworks across media by local, contemporary queer artists and makers, while building community. The goals of the biennial are especially important during the current political and social climate toward queer and trans people.
